The best Eiffel Tower photoshoot spots are Trocadéro for the full frontal view, Pont de Bir-Hakeim for cinematic frames, Champ de Mars for garden angles, and Avenue de Camoëns for the elegant street view. Arrive at sunrise, between 6:00 and 8:30 am depending on season, for empty backgrounds and soft light.
Everything below comes from shooting at the tower week after week: couples, proposals, solo travelers and wedding formalité sessions.
The 6 best Eiffel Tower viewpoints
1. Trocadéro terrace. The postcard. At sunrise it’s yours; by 9 am you’re sharing it with hundreds of people. This is where surprise proposals at the Eiffel Tower happen, the reaction shot with the tower behind is unbeatable.
2. Pont de Bir-Hakeim. Iron arches, symmetry, and the tower rising between them. Slightly gritty, very cinematic, my favorite for pre-wedding photoshoots.
3. Champ de Mars. Green lawns and tree-lined paths on the tower’s south side. Softer and more relaxed; lovely for family sessions later in the morning.
4. Avenue de Camoëns. A quiet staircase street where the tower fills the end of the frame. Small and increasingly known, go before 8 am.
5. Rue de l’Université. The classic “tower at the end of the street” shot from the 7th arrondissement side.
6. Port Debilly / the Seine banks. Waterside frames with boats and bridges, great for walking shots when the terraces above are full.
When to shoot: exact timing
| Season | Sunrise starts | Arrive by |
|---|---|---|
| Summer (Jun–Aug) | ~5:50–6:30 am | 6:00 am |
| Spring / early autumn | ~7:00–7:45 am | 7:00 am |
| Winter (Nov–Feb) | ~8:20–8:45 am | 8:00 am |
Golden hour before sunset is the backup window, but expect crowds in every wide shot. Blue hour (just after sunset) adds the tower’s lights — magical, but the sparkle show is a legal gray area for commercial use, so we shoot it for personal galleries.
What to wear
Long, flowing dresses in cream, white, red or black photograph best against the iron lattice and pale stone. Avoid busy patterns; the tower itself is detailed enough. Bring flat shoes for walking between viewpoints and switch to heels for the frames.
Planning a proposal at the Eiffel Tower?
Sunrise at Trocadéro gives you privacy, soft light and room to stage the moment. I position as a “tourist taking photos” nearby, capture the surprise from the first knee-drop, and then we roll straight into a celebration couple session. Total time: about 90 minutes.
FAQ
Can you do a photoshoot at the Eiffel Tower for free? Shooting in public areas like Trocadéro, Champ de Mars and the bridges is free. You only pay if you go up the tower itself.
How long does an Eiffel Tower photoshoot take? One hour covers one or two viewpoints; two hours comfortably covers Trocadéro, Bir-Hakeim and the gardens.
Is the Eiffel Tower photoshoot possible in the rain? Yes — umbrellas make beautiful props, and light rain empties the terraces. Heavy rain means we reschedule at no cost.
